What’s the Difference Between Delta 10 and THCv?

The hemp industry is witnessing the rise of a new age. Not only has Delta 10 given the hemp industry a big boost — THCV is taking the industry by storm.

In 2018, Congress changed the hemp industry by attaching a provision to the Farm Bill, which removed hemp and its derivatives containing extremely less than 0.3 percent Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol from Schedule I Controlled Substances.

“These cannabinoids should remain legal. The naturally occurring compounds bind with receptors in the body to offer an extensive range of physical, emotional, and mental effects,” stated Brett Weiss, CEO and Co-Founder of Smilyn Wellness.

Let’s take a closer look at the two most recent cannabinoids that have amassed as much attention as Bitcoin.

What is Delta 10?

Delta 10 produces some psychoactive effects on consumers, but to a lesser and different extent than Delta 8 or 9. Delta 8 offers a more relaxed and sedative effect, whereas Delta 10 creates a more active and uplifting experience, making it a great daytime pick-me-up.

Within the endocannabinoid system, Delta 10 attaches to both the CB1 and CB2 receptors, which is how a psychoactive experience is created.

Currently, delta-10 products are federally legal because they are derived from hemp, which was legalized in the US when Congress passed the 2018 farm bill.

What is THCV?

THCV is a psychoactive cannabinoid which creates different effects compared to Delta 10. Within the endocannabinoid system — THCV doesn’t connect with CB1 receptors and is neutral towards CB2 receptors. THCV comes from THCVA which is the result of breaking CBGVA down with heat or UV light.

THCV is said to reduce appetite and inflammation and pain associated with joint issues and even diabetes. The cannabinoid offers a neuroprotectant property like CBG. This creates several opportunities for research into potential therapeutic use for neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s or MS.

It can be easy to confuse THCV for THC, but a quick look at the research tells you that THCV deserves its own spotlight. Containing a range of therapeutic benefits, this cannabinoid may reduce inflammation, help reduce blood sugar levels, and even stimulate bone growth.
